After six grueling months of preparation and one celebratory toast, the 300,000-square-foot Lagunitas brewery officially fired up its bottling operation in Chicago Friday.
The huge Douglas Park facility cleans, fills, caps and labels 450 bottles of Lagunitas India Pale Ale each minute. Lagunitas, a 21-year-old company, also has a brewery in Petaluma, Calif. The Chicago brewery currently has about the same brewing capacity, but will expand on that with an additional brew house by the end of the year.
