CHICAGO'S JACKIE ROBINSON LITTLE LEAGUE TEAM ADVANCES TO WORLD SERIES

South Side team Chicago's first to reach the Little League World Series in 31 years.

The Morgan Park-based Jackie Robinson West Little League team arrived in Williamsport, Pa., Sunday — one day after becoming Chicago's first team to reach the Little League World Series in 31 years.

The Little League World Series, a 16-team, double-elimination tournament with eight clubs from the United States and another eight from various regions of the world, begins Thursday.

Jackie Robinson West's first game is at 2 p.m. Thursday against Lynnwood, Wash., the Northwest Regional champions. It will be televised by ESPN.
