First the good news: Chicago area home prices increased slightly last year, compared to 2011, according to the widely watched S&P/Case-Schiller index. Year-over-year prices climbed a modest 2.2 percent. Now the bad news: Among the 20 major cities in the Case-Schiller index, only New York fared worse with year-over-year prices dipping 0.5 percent in 2012.

GOOD NEWS BAD NEWS FOR CHICAGO HOME PRICE GAIN
