The money will allow the city to offer 24,000 jobs and nearly 17,000 after-school programs to children and young adults this summer, the mayor's office said. When Mayor Rahm Emanuel took office in 2011, there were only 14,000 jobs and nearly 13,000 after-school opportunities available.
