Chicago EST.1837 recently caught up with young rising Hiphop artist 'Saint Nick'
1. Introduce yourself and what you stand for as an artist.
I'm Cleveland 'Saint Nick' Keys, Saint for short. I represent a difference in the game, while at the same time keeping true to myself cause I am inspired by many genres.
2. What influenced you to become a serious artist?
Family... I want to show my family that dreams are as real as you take them.
3. What's the earliest memory you have of falling in love with hip hop?
Jump! Jump! Kriss Kross gone make ya... Me and brother use to imitate them so much. His name was Chris so it was easy to attach to. JD is real inspiration in a lot of aspects of the industry.
4. How do you deal with writers block?
Live, get around music, and take a look at the details. The things no one wants to know but everyone keeps talking about it. The things everyone knows but don't talk about.
5. Do you Think music is enjoyed for the lyrics or the beat & why?
There is an enjoyment in both. Some people are groovers they like riding with the beat. Some people are thinkers so they want to know where you riding to.
6. Where do you see yourself 5 years from now in this industry?
Growing and moving music to all kind of places small and big with great artists, better yet great people.
