PUBLIC LIBRARIES GET 400,000 FOR WI-FI HOT SPOTS

Chicago Public Library is getting $400,000 from the Knight News Challenge for a program to allow patrons to check out Wi-Fi hot spots from six libraries around the city for up to three weeks.
It's one of 19 projects receiving money through a project funded by the John S. and James L. Knight, Ford and Mozilla foundations. Winners were announced today at the 2014 MIT-Knight Civic Media Conference at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. New York's public library also received funding for a similar program.
