That's because it won’t be the legal holiday many had hoped for. The bill would make Aug. 4. Barack Obama Day in Illinois, but state government and businesses would remain open.

"I like DePaul and honestly my coach just went there, coach Shane Heirman, and we have a great connection and he’s always had my back," Campbell said. "I like coach [Dave] Leitao too. I like his program and he’s an intelligent guy." Campbell will also reclassify from 2019 to the 2018 class, his mother, Jennifer Campbell confirmed. Campbell, of La Porte (Ind.) David Staral Jr. was Young and flashy, the Porsche-driving McHenry County native made himself out to be a rich wunderkind financial adviser who would save the Arena Football League's marquee franchise. He talked a big game, promising his ownership would bring a "whole new ballgame" for fans. But in reality, Staral was an All-Star fraud whose deception played a role in the demise of the indoor football team. A three-time convicted felon, he was still on probation for embezzling from a previous employer at the time the league announced his purchase of the Rush. He'd been dogged by lawsuits and liens for bilking tens of thousands of dollars from investors. And at just 34, Staral had twice filed for bankruptcy — yet managed to convince the league's commissioner he was worth millions. In sentencing Staral to 3 1/2 years in prison Thursday, U.S. District Judge Ronald Guzman said he'd never seen anyone in his nearly two decades on the bench who'd pulled off such a variety of scams over such a long period of time.
University of Oklahoma head football coach Bob Stoops and his wife, Carol, paid $2.25 million for a four-bedroom, 5,500-square-foot vintage row home on the Gold Coast last month. An Ohio native, Stoops, 56, already owned another home in the Gold Coast neighborhood. In 2006, he and his wife paid $2.2 million for a vintage row home that is next door to the one that they just bought.
Chicago Police believe members of the notorious Mexican street gang La Raza used an AR-style rifle to carry out a brazen attack on Tuesday that left two plainclothes officers wounded and touched off a citywide manhunt. Gunmen shot up an unmarked police van with a handgun and a .223 caliber rifle, most likely an AR-15, department sources told the Chicago Sun-Times. Police say both officers were shot with a “high-powered weapon” — one in the hip and arm and the other in the back. The officers were released from Stroger Hospital on Wednesday after receiving treatment for non-life threatening wounds. “It’s a miracle the officers are still alive,” said police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi. Investigators are currently questioning three “persons of interest”.
A jail inmate has been killed by a SWAT team as they dramatically saved a female nurse he had taken hostage in a Chicago hospital. Tywon Salters was fatally shot on Saturday afternoon at Delnor Hospital in Geneva, about 40 miles west of Chicago, when hostage negotiations broke down. The 21-year-old inmate was being treated near the emergency room of the hospital at about 12.30pm when he grabbed a correctional officer's gun.

Sinclair would pay about $45 a share for Tribune Media, Bloomberg reported Sunday. Tribune Media shares closed Friday at $40.29. The deal, which could be announced Monday, was made possible by the Federal Communications Commission voting to ease limits on TV station ownership, Bloomberg said. Tribune Media has 42 TV stations and WGN radio, and reaches more than 43 percent of the nation.

Ebony magazine, a publication that has been a staple in the Black community for decades, is cutting their staff by nearly a third and moving its editorial operations to Los Angeles, reports the Chicago Tribune. Johnson Publishing, the family-owned business that founded Ebony and Jet, sold both publications to Texas-based private equity firm CVG Group in May 2016 for an undisclosed price. Since then, Ebony has struggled to find its footing under the new owners, plagued by everything from delayed subscription deliveries to unpaid freelance writers.
Former President Barack Obama announced that he and his wife, Michelle, are donating $2 million to summer jobs programs in Chicago. “One of the things that we’ll be starting this year is Michelle and I are personally going to donate $2 million to our summer jobs programs here in the community,” he said at the South Shore Cultural Center. "[It's] so that right away young people can get to work and we can start providing opportunities to all of them.” The former president used the event to unveil plans for a 200,000-square-foot campus on Chicago’s South Side that will house the Obama Presidential Center. Obama said the center will be used to "train the next generation of leadership, the Michelle Robinsons of today and the Barack Obamas of today." Chicago Est.1837 Recently Caught Up With Up N Coming Artist "Yung Nervo" 1. Can you introduce yourself to the people? I go by the name Yung Nervo. I started rapping at an early age of 9 during the Cash Money era. I was born in Chicago but later moved to Virginia where I found out I had a knack for writing and producing music. I started producing at 12 years old and that same year I bought a preamp and microphone for home recording, then the rest is history. 2. When did you decide to make a career of music, and what inspired that? I decided that I wanted to make music a career when I was in high school. I started off doing it for fun, but my family really pushed me and inspired me to go harder with the music. 3. Whats been the most memorable moment of your grind thus far? My most memorable moment was being able to open up for Bo Deal and collaboring with him on numerous tracks. This meant a lot considering I had just moved back to Chicago with no fanbase or other support. 4. How do you deal with writers-block? I usually just stop writing because if the lyrics don't flow then its not coming from the heart. I write from experiences so my best method is going out into the world soaking everything in, then leave all my emotions on the song. 5. Dead Or alive if you could feature with one artist, who & why? I have to be cliche and say Tupac. He was multidimensional and more than just a rapper, but an artist. 6. What are you currently promoting or working on? Currently I am just working on singles. I have an archive of songs that I've never put out, so later down the line I will pick the best from those and compile a project. 7. Where do you see yourself the next 3-5 years? I see myself building a foundation and fanbase. I also see myself being the headliner for shows instead of the opening act. Follow His Progress... Facebook.com/YungNervo/

Never Say Never the official debut major release from Hypno Carlito undeniably put the industry on notice that he wasn't just a for the moment artist. Nearly a little bit over a year removed from the project that napped 1.8 million streams on MyMixtapez alone, Carlito offers up the sequel "Never Say Never Again", the highly anticipated 14 track star studded new body of work that fans and tastemakers worldwide have been waiting on. Equipped with features from other Chicago heavies Lil Durk, Lud Foe, & Rockie Fresh, along with down south notables Project Pat, Trae Tha Truth & OJ Da Juiceman, Carlito shows the verbal wordplay to shine along with his colleagues. Bump J lends his vocals to a track for the 1st time in nearly 10 years after a prison stint, and Italian sensation Sfera Ebbasta puts a touch on the project that crosses over to new fan territory for both artists.
