If Jahlil Okafor and Tyus Jones are indeed a package deal — and it appears they are — that would rule Kentucky out as a destination.Jones is no longer considering UK after the commitment of fellow point guard Tyler Ulis, and few, if any, are predicting Okafor to Lexington. The long-held belief is that the pair of 2014 standouts will end up at Duke. While the studios are making fewer (if bigger) films, Illinois Film Office head Betsy Steinberg says there's been "a huge influx of episodic television" here, and that's what's keeping everybody working. "We love our movies," she adds, "but one season of Chicago Fire could easily outspend a large blockbuster movie." He was born in Chicago, Illinois. He came to fame after releasing his debut album Guerilla City (2004) which featured the singles "Compton" Featuring Beanie Man and "You're The One" Featuring Mario Winans. Guerrilla Black, real name Charles Williamson, was convicted of buying more than 27,000 credit card numbers from computer hackers David Schrooten and Christopher Schroebel. for their part in the fraud ring, Schrooten received 12 years in prison earlier this year while Schroebel was hit with seven years behind bars in 2012. Black getting a nine-year sentence is actually light compared to all of the years he was looking at. Before pleading guilty, Guerilla Black was facing five years for conspiracy and computer fraud, another fifteen years for device fraud, 30 years for bank fraud, and a minimum of two years for identity theft. You can’t miss Hebru Brantley even if you tried. At six-foot-seven, the 32-year-old artist from Chicago’s South Side is leaving a permanent mark on the contemporary art world, not to mention local brick facades. His playfully sophisticated urban paintings and sculptures, crafted in a sprawling loft that formerly housed a macaroni manufacturer, evoke the spirits of Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring. Though he counts Jay Z among his fans, Brantley isn’t about exclusivity. As the artist-in-residence for Chicago Ideas Week 2013 (Oct 14–20), his cartoon-like figures and creative mind are on full display. In search of the city’s top beef experience, our dining team spent months eating our way through more than 80 different steaks at 38 different joints. Old-school standbys (Gene & Georgetti, Gibsons). Newer hot spots (David Burke’s, Bavette’s). Sports lovers’ haunts (Ditka’s, Jordan’s). And, yes, chains (Ruth’s Chris, Capital Grille). While some places thrilled us, others proved surprisingly disappointing. Many high- profile spots, including Smith & Wollensky, Keefer’s, and Del Frisco’s—each of which could be considered the premier steak house in a less competitive town—fell short of our top 20 for reasons ranging from inconsistent beef to amateurish service. Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel plans to increase the cigarette tax by 75 cents a pack -- a move that would raise total taxes to $7.42-per-pack, giving Chicago the highest rate in the nation. With the cost of a pack of cigarettes between $4 and $5, the tax would push the total cost well above $11. Since 2006, Chicago’s cigarette tax has been fixed at 68 cents a pack. This was after back-to-back increases of 20 and 32 cents a pack. The state and county each added on $1 over the last 18 months. Emanuel reportedly plans to use the estimated $10 million in revenue toward expanding a vision and eye-care program now serving 30,000 Chicago Public School students. He also plans to invest more heavily in after-school and summer jobs programs for at-risk youth. The CTA reopened all nine Red Line stations south of Roosevelt Road on Sunday at 4 a.m. after the five-month reconstruction project. Riders greeted the return of the CTA's Red Line south branch with mixed emotions Sunday. According to Noonie G., it’s just not enough for the Chicago rappers to pay attention to the violent epidemic sweeping through the Windy City. Noonie G. is seeking the support of the entire Hip-Hop industry, as he attempts to help calm the violence in the streets of Chicago, which also stems from the lack educational opportunities for teens in the city, after Mayor Emanuel ordered 47 elementary schools permanently closed. Noonie G., who was featured on an episode of “American Gangster” about Chicago’s gangs, turned his life around after a prison stint in 1994 and has been active in Chicago politics ever since. He even worked with President Barack Obama when the Commander-in-Chief was an activist in the Altgeld Gardens housing complex. President Obama’s former Chief-of-Staff, Rahm Emanuel, is the current Mayor of “Chiraq,” while Garry F. McCarthy serves as the city’s Police Chief. “Our Police Chief is Hollywood. He ain’t no real Police Chief,” Noonie G. told AllHipHop.com of McCarthy, who starred in the Sundance reality series “Brick City,” which centered around gangs and crime in Newark, New Jersey. “They are getting paid off these kids. Crime pays,” Noonie G. continued. “Each one of these kids are like pawns. Chicago is known to be the most ruthless city for everything. From the police to everything else. They could stop this level of killings if they wanted to. They get all this money from Washington DC, but they don’t use the money for education programs, or gang prevention.” Noonie G. says he works tirelessly to help stem the violence in Chicago, but a major presence is noticeably absent – that of the rappers. Inside a command center at a Chicago marketing agency, a small team of social media experts hunkers down to monitor online chatter about President Barack Obama's health care law, answer questions on Facebook from discouraged consumers and post information and advice on Twitter. They are holding down the fort for a $33 million ad campaign planned for Get Covered Illinois, the new health insurance marketplace that's a cornerstone of the law, also known as "Obamacare," in what is arguably the biggest social media campaign rolled out by the state of Illinois. He closed 50 schools. He's fired hundreds of staffers. And he's ordered round after round of budget cuts that have left schools so broke they can't afford toilet paper or librarians. Now he's settling on a new strategy—charter schools! In this case, he's proposing to put a Noble Street charter school in an abandoned lumberyard right across the street from Prosser High School in Belmont-Cragin, at 2148 N. Long. If that doesn't eventually knock Prosser out of business, I guess he can always call in the building inspectors. Over the course of the past year, Joey’s profile has risen significantly. His songs have gotten sharper. His rhymes more complex. Solo efforts like “Don’t Stop,” and “World Turning” were a smack in the face and a pound of smelling salt for anyone napping on Young Purple. He stole the show on his guest appearances on Vic Mensa and Caleb James’ projects, more specifically the high powered 16 on “Fear & Doubt.” All evidence that Purp is one of the best contenders in the city of Chicago.

There was no noticeable crushing blow on the field, no gasp from the crowd when Lane Tech football player Drew Williams collapsed Friday night. Instead the scene unrolled slowly, a nightmare playing out in front of the players' parents after Williams, a senior, walked off the field at Gately Stadium on the Far South Side and had what appeared to be a seizure. Chicago Public Schools is not releasing information about Williams' injury. But according to a Web page set up to relay information about his condition, he suffered a subdural hematoma — bleeding along the surface of the brain — and is in a coma at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
