NEWS: NATURAL GAS REPLACEMENT PROJECT IN CHICAGO UNDER QUESTION

Illinois utility regulators initiated a formal proceeding into whether Wisconsin Energy Corp. representatives “knowingly misrepresented facts or withheld information” on the ballooning costs of a natural gas main replacement project in Chicago.

The Illinois Commerce Commission also will investigate representatives of Peoples Gas and its former parent company, Integrys Energy Group of Chicago. Wisconsin Energy on June 29 completed its $9.1 billion acquisition of Integrys and the Milwaukee-based public utility company changed its name to WEC Energy.
