2 CHARGED IN SLAYING OF TYRONE LAWSON

Two men charged in the fatal shooting of a teen-aged boy outside a high school basketball game at Chicago State University were ordered held without bail today.
Michael McNabb, 32, of Chicago, and Stephen Gilbert, 29, of Alsip, were each charged with first-degree murder Friday night in the Wednesday night slaying of 17-year-old Tyrone Lawson, officials said. McNabb and Gilbert might be related, police said. They appeared in bond court this morning, and their next hearing is set for Jan. 22.
The shooting happened outdoors, just outside the CSU gymnasium near 95th Street and King Drive, about 9:20 p.m. Wednesday after Simeon High School defeated Morgan Park. Lawson, a student at Morgan Park, was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
