SPORTS: BEARS EMBARRASSED IN HOME MNF GAME AGAINST SAINTS
Drew Brees threw for 375 yards and three touchdowns and the New Orleans Saints beat the Chicago Bears 31-15 on Monday night to grab the NFC South lead.
Bad offense. Turnovers from Jay Cutler. An inability to stop a good quarterback. Lost coaching. A lifeless performance at home. Monday night's disaster had it all for the now 5-9 Bears.
SPORTS: JABARI PARKER OUT WITH SERIOUS KNEE INJURY
Early in the third quarter of Monday night's game between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Phoenix Suns, Jabari Parker was dribbling up the court in transition when he collided with P.J. Tucker as he tried to pass the ball off to a teammate. Parker's left knee appeared to be injured and it looked like he said that something popped while he was on the ground, dealing with the injury.
The No. 2 pick in the 2014 draft left the game after the play and was carried to the locker room by teammates and the Bucks' staff. It's being diagnosed as a sprained knee he did not return to the game.
NEWS: CAMERAS TO BE ALLOWED IN "SOME" COOK COUNTY COURTHOUSES
Media cameras will be allowed in some Cook County criminal courtrooms as part of a pilot program beginning in January, the Illinois Supreme Court has decided. Effective Jan. 5, the media will be allowed to video and audio record proceedings at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse at 26th and California.
A request for cameras at a hearing or trial must be initiated by the media through a media coordinator at least 14 days in advance, according to a statement from the high court. The trial judge will then decide whether or not to allow extended coverage of a proceeding.
Cameras will be prohibited in cases of sexual abuse without the alleged victim's consent, as well as juvenile, divorce, adoption, child custody, evidence suppression and trade secret cases.

MUSIC NEWS: SONY LEAK REVEALS KANYE WEST MOVIE (EXCLUSIVE DETAILS)
The latest, from The Daily Beast, reveals that Kanye West’s representatives approached Sony about doing a feature-length film with West. “I supervise all of Kanye’s film and media projects, and we have a major film project coming up that involves both cinematic and technological innovation, so I naturally thought Sony and wanted to reach out,” wrote West’s creative director Elon Rutberg in an email, per Daily Beast. “We premiered a multi-screen cinema experience to great response at Cannes 2012, and are looking to take the storytelling to the next level with a feature length film, shot for an immersive cinema experience.”
Even more exciting, albeit random, there is apparently footage of Kanye helping to reenact the oft-imitated piano scene from Big in a 2015 Seth Rogen/Joseph Gordon-Levitt film XMAS. “Seth, Joe, and [Anthony] Mackie reenacting the scene from BIG on the floor piano at FAO Schwartz with KANYE WEST,” Sony studio chief Amy Pascal wrote in an email discussing a teaser for the film. “It’s f–king awesome.”

NEWS: ILLINOIS STATE COMPTROLLER JUDY BAAR TOPINKA PASSES AWAY AT THE AGE OF 70
Illinois State Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka, a brash pioneer for women in Illinois politics, died early Wednesday, less than a day after suffering a stroke.
Topinka, 70, had been elected to her second term as comptroller in November, and was preparing to be sworn in next month. She was the first woman to serve in statewide office, and the first female Republican to win her party’s nomination for governor.
“She was one of a kind,” former Gov. Jim Thompson said.
Topinka was also the first woman to serve as chair of the Illinois Republican Party.

SPORTS: JON LESTER CHOOSES TO SIGN WITH THE CHICAGO CUBS
The Cubs are back as major players at the winter meetings, selling Jon Lester on their vision of winning big at Wrigley Field and blowing him away with a six-year, $155 million megadeal.
A source involved in the negotiations confirmed the agreement late Tuesday night, and the news rippled throughout the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego. After patiently waiting for the right time to strike in free agency – and missing on several high-profile targets – the Cubs finally got their man.

NEWS: KEY PLAYER IN RED LIGHT CAMERA CONTRACT SCANDAL PLEADS GUILTY
O'Malley, 73, of Worth, was employed as a "consultant" for Redflex when its deal to provide red light cameras to the city began in 2003. But his main role was allegedly to funnel cash and perks to his pal, city worker John Bills, who is accused of helping rig the contract for Redflex in return for kickbacks.
O'Malley faces up to five years in prison but has agreed to cooperate with prosecutors against Bills and former Redflex CEO Karen Finlay in the hopes of receiving a reduced sentence. His sentencing has been delayed until after Bills' and Finlay's cases are concluded. In court Wednesday, O'Malley admitted he funneled most of the $2 million he was paid by Redflex to Bills, who the feds say got a $177,000 condo, Super Bowl tickets, golf outings, a boat, his children's school fees and even his girlfriend's mortgage and his divorce attorney's bill paid by Redflex.
O'Malley agreed that Bills had got him the job with Redflex, then demanded the kickbacks, telling him "this is the way business is done."

CHICAGO UNSIGNED HYPE INTERVIEW W/ I.D. ENTIFICATION
Chicago EST.1837 recently caught up with young rising hiphop group "I.D. Entification"
1. Introduce yourselves & what you'll stand for as a group.
We are I.D.Entification, 2 brothers from Chicago working our way towards living out our dreams. Our group consists of Impulse an R&B singer/ songwriter and Demeanor Rap artist/ songwriter. As a group we chose 2 mesh our talents to create one sound, building a fan base giving everyone our identities through the music. Music in which we share with the public is generally R&B but we can come in many different lanes and styles.
2. What inspired you'll to become serious artists?
What inspired us to become serious artists is our love for the art. If one didn’t know, music is definitely an art that most artists fail to realize. It seems to us that artist’s just record to say they have something to do or to fit in with this generation. Very few actually have a plan, vision, and a goal to succeed and get to a stage where they are in position to win Grammy’s. Those are our goals!
3. How does the group plan on separating itself from other up n coming groups?
Our plan to separate ourselves is to simply stay in our own lane. The popular music in Chicago right now is drill. We are going completely away from violence, spreading positive vibes. We also lean towards what we actually go through spilling our hearts on songs.
4. Name a dream collaboration. One producer & one artist.
A dream collaboration for I.D.Entification would have to be the piot piper of R&B in R. Kelly with timberland or Dr. Dre behind the scenes. For this particular collab we’d have to go with Timberland. We think a SUPER hit would come from a track like this.
5. What's been the most memorable moment in the groups short career?
The most memorable moment of the group’s short career would have to be the first time that we performed together. Adrenaline rushing, crowd watching, and high hopes of shutting it down. It honestly seems like once the song starts playing things just come naturally for us as if this is what we were really made to do.
6.Any special projects out, or upcoming fans should be checking for?
Right now everyone please take the time out to go on YouTube and check out our videos under director LawFilms. Look up Lawrence Williams and we have “Head Sprung” and “Crush” which are our two big ones! Look out for our upcoming mixtape that will be dropping soon titled “First Impression the mixtape” hosted by DJ Amaris. Next year summer time be on the lookout for our first Album titled “I.D. Me.”
7. Tell us where you guys see the group 3-5 years from now.
3-5 years from now we see our group improving dramatically and getting serious looks from major producers and labels. Though we don’t know what the future holds, we would like to have only been recognized for our raw talents and appreciated for the music that we are bringing to the industry.

NEWS: CHICAGO MINIMUM WAGE GETTING CLOSE TO 13$
The City Council is scheduled to vote Tuesday at a special meeting on a plan by a re-election-seeking Mayor Rahm Emanuel to increase Chicago's minimum wage from $8.25 to $13 an hour by 2019. The proposal advanced after a hearing Monday stretched more than three hours.
In Springfield, supporters of a plan to increase the statewide minimum wage to $10 an hour searched for more votes in the Illinois House as lawmakers returned to town for the final scheduled week of session this year.
Emanuel's decision to quickly push through a city vote would allow the first-term mayor to try to grab credit on a politically popular issue despite intense opposition on one side from the city's retail and restaurant business community and the other side from labor advocates and political opponents who contended it didn't raise the minimum wage far enough. The mayor's fast move also has created confusion in Springfield as business interests have pressed state lawmakers to prevent the city from having a higher rate than the rest of the state.

NEWS: JUDGE SENTENCES ALLEGED SINALOA CARTEL MEMBER TO 22 YEARS IN PRISON
It wasn't proven that Alfredo Vazquez-Hernandez was a top aide to Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzmán (above), but he was still sentenced to 22 years in prison.
Federal judge Ruben Castillo said Monday that he didn't see solid evidence showing that Alfredo Vazquez-Hernandez met with Sinaloa cartel leader Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzmán, let alone that he was a logistical coordinator for the drug organization. But the judge also said no one believes that Vazquez-Hernandez "just got out of bed one morning" and decided to get involved in a deal to move 276 kilograms of Central American cocaine into Chicago, a crime for which the 59-year-old businessman pleaded guilty earlier this year.
When he was offered a chance to speak, Vazquez-Hernandez—gray haired and small built, wearing a baggy orange prison jumpsuit—apologized through a Spanish interpreter to the court and the United States. "I accept responsibility for what I did."
The extent of his responsibility remains an open question.

FILM: DRUG LORD THE LEGEND OF SHORTY (DOCUMENTARY)
There have only been two men in history to be named Public Enemy Number One: Al Capone and “El Chapo” Guzman. At the time of his arrest this past February, El Chapo was considered the most powerful drug trafficker in the world, with his power and influence spreading all across North America. Chicago was impacted heavily by the aforementioned influence, as the drug trade in the city dictated a lot of the violence it’s faced recently.
Drug Lord: The Legend of Shorty is directed by Angus MacQueen and Guillermo Galdos and produced by Simon Chinn (Searching for Sugar Man) and Andrew Mackenzie-Betty (Thriller in Manila). The documentary is currently playing in select theaters and is available on VOD right now.

SPORTS: CUBS BEING INVESTIGATED FOR TAMPERING
Even as Chicago’s pursuit of the 60-year-old manager was ongoing, there were rumblings that the Rays felt the Cubs had tampered with Maddon while he was still under contract in Tampa Bay. On Monday, Joel Sherman of the New York Postreported that those allegations were deemed serious enough by Major League Baseball that they have opened an inquiry into tampering charges against the Cubs.
Here is what Sherman had to say about the situation:
“If it is proven the Cubs tampered, they may have to give the Rays some form of compensation, such as a player, draft picks, and/or money. It is also possible – especially if any Cubs official lied to MLB investigators – there could be suspensions. The same wing that investigated Alex Rodriguez in the Biogenesis matter is looking into these tampering allegations.”

CHICAGO UNSIGNED HYPE INTERVIEW W/ JILLA
Chicago EST.1837 recently caught up with young rising Hiphop artist "Jilla"
1. Introduce yourself and what you stand for as an artist.
I go by the name Jilla for those who may not know me. What I stand for as an artist is innovation and creativity. I try to stay in my own lane as far as music and the culture goes.
2. Where are you from and what is the music scene like there?
I'm from Rockford, IL, about 60 miles north of Chicago. The music scene here is very diverse, a lot of talented rappers and singers to say the least. My city is filled with potential.
3. What aspect of the music making process excites you the most & why?
Recording the actual song is the process that excites me the most. I still get nervous when I record, and I guess that's because I take pride in my craft and enjoy every minute of it.
4. How do you feel about the way the internet & digital sales matter the most in music nowadays?
The Internet and digital sales play a pivotal role in music nowadays. We're in an era where physical CD sales are at an all time low, and everyone is buying music via iTunes and Google Play. The Internet is important because that is the main way fans and label reps discover new talent, whether it be YouTube, or other social media tools such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
5. Dream collaboration Rather another artist or producer.
My dream collaboration would most likely be Jeezy. I've been a fan of his for quite some time, and his energy is inspiring.
6. What's the future hold for you as an artist and overall brand?
My team and I are just trying to take the music and my brand to the next level. I'm trying to get recognized on a national platform and make new relationships with different people in this industry. We came to shift the culture!

NEWS: CHICAGO TECH COMPANIES LURE ENGINEERS WITH NEW METHODS
“If you’re not that top salary, there has to be another draw,”
The tech-talent debate continues: Some say Chicago and the U.S. suffer a critical shortage of engineers and developers. Others say that’s a myth.
Some experts say the engineers are here, it’s just a matter of attracting them. They say that takes finesse, a balance between wooing job candidates with compelling projects and enticing them with cash, benefits and flexibility.
The average developer salary at a startup in San Francisco is $109,000 versus $85,000 in Chicago, according to AngelList, a platform that connects startups to early-stage investors. Chicago companies say they trumpet the city’s cost of living, lower than in tech hubs on the East and West coasts, and other tangible benefits at their companies.

NEWS: CHIEF KEEF REPORTEDLY HAS BEEN DROPPED BY INTERSCOPE RECORDS (EXCLUSIVE INFO)
Earlier this year, matters began to sour with Chief Keef, his camp and the bosses at Interscope. Our source maintains Interscope began to “subtly disassociate” itself from the 19-year-old rapper after he had a series of legal cases sprout up in 2013 and 2014, ranging from lawsuits to drug offenses. He also went into rehab for an addiction to lean, an illegal drink that mixes promethazine and codeine. A March 2014 shoot out in Chicago, which authorities linked Keef to, allegedly further damaged the relationship with Interscope.
After that, the Chicago rapper relocated to Los Angeles in a new mansion this past summer in an effort to change the energy surrounding his life. The move not only got him away from his troubled roots in Chicago, but much closer to his label. This is where sources say the tension intensified.
“Keef and his people tried to keep the label accountable (once Keef moved to Los Angeles) but Interscope didn’t seem interested in dropping a new album. Keef’s team tried to have formal meetings but nothing moved,” an anonymouse source told AllHipHop. Additionally, there was some left over bad blood stemming from how Chief Keef’s first album was marketed and promoted.
Insiders say friction intensified until there were arguments with higher-ups in Interscope over how Keef’s career was being handled. Shortly thereafter, Keef was quietly released from his contract, sources said.
