CONGRESS THEATER REMAINS OPEN FOR NOW

The Congress Theater can remain open — but not sell any more tickets — until it undergoes a reinspection, according to a deal reached with the city Thursday. The agreement allows the Congress to operate under “reduced capacity.” lawyers said. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for April 22. On Wednesday, the city threw the book at the Congress after its latest failed inspection, filing an emergency motion that could have forced controversial owner Eddie Carranza to close the theater. The lengthy motion detailed 26 violations.
