DERRICK ROSE TEAM USA PRACTICE HIGHLIGHTS
Despite missing pretty much two full seasons with knee injuries and re-injuries, Rose appears to be in the best shape he’s been since he went down in 2012, and as per video from the Team USA practices that have been going on all week, it seems pretty apparent that Rose will be selected to the final FIBA roster, and below you can see him slashing, dunking, and crossing over just like he was before he went down with his injury.
CHICAGO UNSIGNED HYPE INTERVIEW W/ JOVANNI ROSARIO
Chicago EST.1837 recently caught up with Up N Coming artist "Jovanni Rosario"
1. What inspired you to become an artist?
Back when i was growing up i was always into music whether it was me acting a fool of myself on camera just randomly rapping and dancing, or my grandfather teaching me how to play the piano..( he was a famous singer from Puerto Rico) music has always played a big role in my life, so i decided i wanted to try out something that has to do with music so i gave Hip-Hop a try.... still shocked till this day because i never knew i would or could make an impact like I'm doing now, IT'S CRAZY!!!!
2. How would you define your style of music?
My style of music is very versatile.... i can adapt to any beat whether its fast paced or slow paced... i definitely like to keep my music fresh and always new, no disrespect to any other artists out there, but nobody and i mean nobody wants to hear the same thing over and over and over again, so i always love to learn new things and add cool and unique different styles to my music... just me being half Puerto Rican and half Serbian plays a big part in it(guess you can say i have the best of both worlds).
3. Who are some of your musical influences?
Man o man o man do i have alot....my main musical influences are definitely (Eminem,Outkast,Nas,DMX,Snoop Dogg, mainly every artist from the 90's because i am a big 90's Hip-Hop Fanatic) all about that OLD SKOOL!!!!!
4. What has been your best/worse experience in the industry so far?
My best experience in the industry so far has got to be the love and support i get from all my fans man... i swear nobody gets the real meaning of fans like i do because they are the ones that keep me pushing myself to improve more and more and reach the top with much success... no lie but i got love for anybody and everybody that fucks with me because this has been a crazy journey so far that's starting to get better day by day....
My worst experience is seeing the real side of people... those that i thought that were down with me since the beginning when i first started, but ended up laughing at me behind my back and saying i will never amount to nothing and that i suck.... "thank y'all for the motivation that's what keeps me going".
5. Do you want to sign to a major label or stay indie? why?
To be completely honest no because nowadays labels don't even matter anymore.. ill rather do everything on my own and start my own label from the ground up then have some other company control me and steer me in the direction i know i wont be satisfied in... staying indie is my top choice right now.
6. What can we expect from you in 2k14?
BIG things will be expected this year, not only am i dropping my first debut most anticipated mixtape (FI-NI-TO) dropping August 17th but everyone can definitely expect more surprises like (special features, upcoming show announcements, photo shoots, more dope ass music videos, and definitely more raw talent produced) my number one goal is to make sure that, not only do i have the hottest freshman mixtape in my city, but also around the nation... so i've been working real hard, staying highly dedicated and passionate to make sure my actions speak louder than my own words....

CUBS WIN LONGEST GAME IN FRANCHISE HISTORY
LIST SHOWS COMPLAINTS AGAINST DIRTY COPS
Two of Chicago’s dirtiest cops are at the top of a list of police officers who had generated more than 10 misconduct complaints between 2001 and 2006, according to newly released records. Keith Herrera and Jerome Finnigan were members of a crew of rogue police officers convicted of home invasions and rip-offs of drug dealers. Finnigan was convicted in federal court of seeking to have Herrera murdered because he thought his partner was a rat.
Herrera was, in fact, cooperating with law enforcement authorities investigating the crew. He served a short prison sentence, and Finnigan remains behind bars.
According to a list released Tuesday, Herrera was the subject of 53 citizen complaints over the five-year period; Finnigan was named in 52 complaints. The police department didn’t take any action on any of the complaints, except for a 2003 complaint against Herrera in which he received a reprimand. The top four officers on the list were members of the now notorious Special Operations Section, which was disbanded after allegations of corruption.
On Tuesday, the city turned over a batch of documents — including the list of 662 officers — to independent journalist Jamie Kalven, who had filed an Illinois Freedom of Information Act request to obtain them. The city initially fought Kalven’s request, saying complaints against police officers should remain secret.

UNSIGNED HYPE INTERVIEW W/ JUICE KUMARI
Chicago EST.1837 recently caught up with female artist "Juice Kumari"
1. Introduce yourself and what you represent as a Brand?
JUICE Kumari means “Flava Princess”. Kumari is my middle name and is the Hindu name meaning Princess. I’m all about “sophisticated fun”, that is enjoying life whilst remaining classy and stylish.
2. Tell us when you can remember 1st falling in love with Hip Hop?
I first fell in love with Hip Hop when I was 12 years old. DMX “Party Up” was played everywhere lol.
3. What is the biggest misconception when it comes to female artists?
I think what is misconstrued is the actuality that we are human beings with feelings and emotions. When it comes to female artists, many are led to believe that we are “superwomen” with “flawless skin” and “fantastic bodies” only used as sex symbols. We are constantly trying to prove that we shouldn’t be taken advantage of, to prove that we can empower others and remain true to our values and beliefs and project this in a positive light.
4. How do you plan to market yourself to the public?
I plan to work on new and innovative marketing and promotional strategies that appeal in a way that I still remain current, fresh, real, honest and true in conjunction with catering to the needs of my fans.
5. Outside of music, what are some of your other interest?
I love working with young people. There’s a buzz that you get when you work with disadvantaged young people and it gets you thinking about how different generations do almost everything differently and how technology has played a massive part in the views of young people.
6. Where do u see yourself the next 3-5 years?
Ideally, I would like to see myself fulfilling my passions by living and enjoying life; touring and performing internationally; working with established artists in the music industry; and outreaching to young people.

NEW INTERVIEW W/ LUPE FIASCO
“I only get paid for 11 records. There’s a cap, you know, on your royalties, where you only get paid…where the record label only pays for 11 records. And in my position, anything over 11 records is not just free, it’s not like you’re doing extra joints. It actually pulls money out of my royalties. So every time I do…like The Cool…you do 19 records, you’re getting banged. That’s why Illmatic only has 10 songs.”

24 THOUGHT PROVOKING QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF DAILY
24 Thought Provoking Questions You Need To Answer To Know Yourself Better
What would people say about you at your funeral?
What do you believe stands between you and complete happiness?
When will you be good enough for you? Is there some breaking point where you will accept everything about yourself?
If you were at heaven’s gates, and God asked “you why should I let you in?”, what would you say?
Do you fear death? If so, do you have a good reason?
If you lost everything tomorrow, whose arms would you want to run into? Does that person know how much they mean to you?
If you had the chance to go back in time and change one thing, what would you change?
If you could make a 30 second speech to the entire world, what would you say?
If you had all the money in the world but still had to have some kind of job, what would you choose to do?
What would you change if you were told with 100% certainty that God does not exist? Or if you don’t believe in God, that he does exist?
What would you change if you knew you were NEVER going to die?
If this were the last day of your life, would you want to do what you were about to do today?
If your life was a movie, what would be the title?
If you could ask for one wish, what would it be?
How could you describe yourself in 5 words?
Are there chances you’ve passed up that you wish you’d have taken?
How old would you be if you didn’t know how old are you?
If not now, then when?
What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?
Are you aware that someone has it worse than you?
If you had to choose between a book or a movie what would you choose?
If you could see your whole life till now on a movie would you enjoy it?
If you could ask 1 person just one question, and he would answer honestly, what would you ask him and who would you ask?
What would you do different if you were reborn?

STUDIO RENT UP 40% IN THE LAST YEAR FOR CHICAGO
Studio Rent Prices in Chicago Have Jumped 40% Over Last Year.
Chicago is often cited as one of the more affordable major cities in the country, and even with the Windy City experiencing an apartment boom, Chicago's rep for being a relatively affordable place to live continues to hold steady. According to data from a new report released by apartment search site Lovely, overall median rent prices in Chicago have actually gone down by 2% compared to prices from this same period last year. Rent prices for one and two bedrooms have dropped a bit since last year's peak, however, rents for studios have skyrocketed by 40%. For the second quarter of this year, the report puts the median studio rent in Chicago at $1,298 per month, with the overall median being $1,600 per month.
Of the cities profiled, Chicago comes in as the most affordable city to rent in, beating out New York, LA, San Francisco and Washington DC.

BULLS INTENSIFY KEVIN LOVE TRADE TALK
Kevin Love is the man of the moment. Central Division rivals Cleveland Cavaliers and Chicago Bulls are now locked into a hot pursuit of the former NBA rebound king. The Chicago Bulls are now willing to include Taj Gibson, the 10th overall pick Doug McDermott and even their wild card asset Nikola Mirotic in the package to Minnesota. The Bulls believe that if the Cavaliers could parade a Kevin Love and LeBron James combo, they are the clear favorites to take the East.
"The Chicago Bulls have offered a package of Taj Gibson and rookies Doug McDermott and Nikola Mirotic to the Minnesota Timberwolves for All-Star forward Kevin Love, a league source told SheridanHoops.com on Wednesday.
The package is extremely intriguing to the Timberwolves, but there is a catch; it cannot be completed for another 29 days because McDermott and Mirotic signed their rookie contracts Tuesday. NBA rules prohibit rookies from being traded within the first 30 days of inking their rookie deals."

Two brothers with a passion for making movies are trying to raise $25,000 to complete their first documentary: a movie, "Bucket," about the "bucket boys" who have set up shop across the city and especially on the South Side.
With nearly 75 percent of the 90-minute documentary finished, Jarrell and Jerome Lucas said they hope to complete the project by September through an online fundraiser. Jarrell said filming began in February, but they had to stop in May when they ran short of money.

OBAMA'S PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY POSSIBLE DESTINATION
Developers in Chicago are working up proposals for Barack Obama’s Presidential Library. McCaffery Interests is developing a large site adjacent to Lake Michigan once occupied by mills owned by U.S. Steel.
Granted, the site was abandoned by U.S. Steel long before 2008, but symbolically, building a shrine to Obama atop a site that once employed tens of thousands of hard working Americans seems very fitting.

YOGA PROGRAMS START IN SOME OF CHICAGO'S TOUGHEST AREAS
Tameka Lawson's yoga students try to follow her instructions: concentrate on their breathing and focus on the beauty of their surroundings. But this is Englewood, one of Chicago's most dangerous neighborhoods, where streets are dotted with boarded-up houses and overgrown lots, and residents are as familiar with the crackle of gunfire as the chime of an ice cream truck.
The idea has even caught the attention of police. At least one officer has made Lawson's class part of an anti-violence program for at-risk youths.
