An 11-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department who was struck in the head by a ricochet bullet South Side Sunday night has been released from the hospital.
About 8:45 p.m. officers were executing the warrant at a home in the 2700 block of East 92nd Street, part of the Calumet Park neighborhood, when someone from inside the home fired a shot that ricocheted off one surface and struck one of the officers between his eyes, Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy told reporters late Sunday at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where the officer was treated before being released.
