LL Cool J releases the gold-selling, Grammy winning chart-topping hit “Mama Said Knock You Out”, from his album of the same name, on this day in 1991. “Mama Said Knock You”, whose opening line “Don’t call it a comeback, I’ve been here for years” is one of the most famous rap lyrics ever. “Mama Said Knock You Out” was produced by Marley Marl and would later be included in The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame’s 500 Songs That Shaped Rock And Roll.
