SPORTS: SIMEON VS MORGAN PARK RECAP

When South Side, Red South conference rivals Simeon Career Academy and Morgan Park High School play, it's a battle. Chicago basketball fans focus their attention on this rivalry. While there might not be any national household names this season, it's still one of the most exciting big-city public school rivalries you'll see. Last season, the road teams won both regular season meetings and Simeon eliminated Morgan Park in the city semis on a neutral court on their way to winning Chicago's city title.
The first meeting this season took place at Morgan Park in their tiny gym (fits about 200 people). Led by clutch free throw shooting by senior Evan Gilyard (UTEP commit) and rebounding by senior reserve Madison Lowery, Simeon Wolverines edged the Morgan Park Mustangs 59-57.
Gilyard finished with 15 points. Simeon juniors Talen Horton-Tucker had 11 points and nine rebounds and Kezo Brown scored 10. Morgan Park star junior PG was held down for most of 3 quarters but Ayo Dosunmu finished with 21 points and four rebounds. Melo Burrell finished with 16 for Morgan Park.
