SPORTS: SIMEON VS MORGAN PARK RECAP
When South Side, Red South conference rivals Simeon Career Academy and Morgan Park High School play, it's a battle. Chicago basketball fans focus their attention on this rivalry. While there might not be any national household names this season, it's still one of the most exciting big-city public school rivalries you'll see.
Last season, the road teams won both regular season meetings and Simeon eliminated Morgan Park in the city semis on a neutral court on their way to winning Chicago's city title.
The first meeting this season took place at Morgan Park in their tiny gym (fits about 200 people). Led by clutch free throw shooting by senior Evan Gilyard (UTEP commit) and rebounding by senior reserve Madison Lowery, Simeon Wolverines edged the Morgan Park Mustangs 59-57.
Gilyard finished with 15 points. Simeon juniors Talen Horton-Tucker had 11 points and nine rebounds and Kezo Brown scored 10. Morgan Park star junior PG was held down for most of 3 quarters but Ayo Dosunmu finished with 21 points and four rebounds. Melo Burrell finished with 16 for Morgan Park.

The agency also socked away hundreds of millions of dollars in cash reserves even as its ambitious plan to replace thousands of demolished public housing units lagged years behind schedule.

MUSIC NEWS: NEW YORK MEDIA PERSONALITY TAXSTONE ARRESTED
In May of 2016, Brooklyn rapper Troy Ave was injured in a shooting at Irving Plaza that left his bodyguard Ronald “Banga” McPhatter dead. No arrests were made in the following months, but on Monday (Jan. 16), podcast personality Taxstone was apprehended by police and arrested in Brooklyn in relation to the shooting.
NBC reports that U.S. Marshals New York and New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Taxstone, born Darryl Campbell, in Brooklyn this morning. Sources tell NBC he was wanted for a federal warrant that charged him with being a felon in possession of a firearm, but he was also being sought by the NYPD in connection to the Irving Plaza shooting.
The shooting occurred in a green room on the third floor of the venue where a fistfight broke out and escalated to gunfire. Footage from inside the green room emerged soon after the news broke, and the shooter was said to be captured on surveillance footage, but no arrest have been made until now.
Following the shooting, Troy Ave was arraigned on charges including attempted murder after footage showed him shooting back at somebody in Irving Plaza. He and his lawyers have since maintained his innocence, claiming self defense.

SPORTS: DERRICK ROSE FINED FOR NO SHOW
Disappearing Knicks point guard Derrick Rose was fined roughly $200,000 for missing Monday's loss to the Pelicans without notification, sources said.
Coach Jeff Hornacek indicated the Knicks followed the code used for a player being suspended for one game -- which is 1/110th of his $21 million wage or roughly $200,000. A source confirmed that's the mathematical formula the Knicks used.
"The team fined him a pretty hefty amount -- the amount of the fine for missing a game,'' Hornacek said.
