This film is to show you the versatility of Chicago as it is a city that truly cannot be pinpointed when it comes to genre of hip hop. You will se different perspectives of the city throughout The Culture, yet everyone is chasing the same dream. Although violence is an aspect of Chicago that you cannot be ignorant to, this city is way more than just that. This film intentionally has no narration for the reason that narrations are intended to mold a perspective - this is for you to form your own. I hope everyone enjoys it, I spent a lot of time putting this together!

NEWS: CHICAGO STATE UNIVERSITY MAY CLOSE THIS MARCH

Chicago State University, a school once attended by Kanye West, who later dropped out for music, is a predominately black college located on the South Side of Chicago.The school may unfortunately close this March due to the state’s unresolved budget impasse. The school began experiencing financial trouble back in June of 2015 when the state of Illinois began operating without a budget due to Governor Bruce Rauner and the majority Democratic legislature being at odds over the allotment of funds.

It is being estimated that Chicago State will run out of funds on March 1st unless there is a plan put into place. It’s reported that a Democratic Senator introduced a $25 million legislation that will prevent the school from closing.

This morning student protesters shut down the Dan Ryan Expressway as March quickly approaches.

NEWS: QUINTONIO LEGRIER'S ESTATE TO BE SUED BY CHICAGO POLICE OFFICER WHO KILLED HIM

The police officer who shot and killed teenager Quintonio LeGrier on the day after Christmas will sue LeGrier’s estate. Officer Robert Rialmo answered a domestic disturbance call in West Garfield Park and wound up shooting LeGrier and a neighbor, he says, because LeGrier attacked him. Rialmo’s attorney Joel Brodsky confirmed for WGN-TV this morning that he’ll file a civil suit against LeGrier’s estate in a couple of weeks, citing emotional distress and assault.

NEWS: CHICAGO POLICE HIRE CHARLES RAMSEY AS SENIOR ADVISOR

Charles Ramsey, a former police chief in both Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., is returning to his hometown to serve as a senior advisor to the Chicago Police Department to guide civil rights reforms, city officials announced Sunday.

Ramsey, who is highly respected within CPD where he worked for 30 years, will help reform the department as they grapple with the aftermath of recent police shootings.

Ramsey, who will earn $350 an hour as a senior advisor to CPD, is well known to the department. He came up through the ranks in Chicago, rising all the way up to deputy superintendent before moving on to Washington, D.C., and then Philadelphia.

SPORTS: MORGAN PARK VS SIMEON BACK AT MP HIGH SCHOOL

Last week the Morgan Park parents threatened that their children would boycott the second matchup, scheduled to be played at Brooks, unless the game was played at Morgan Park.

Thursday their wishes were granted, as Morgan Park Principal Carolyn Epps and Chicago Public Schools agreed that the game would take place at Morgan Park on Jan. 28.

NEWS: CHICAGO PUBLIC SCHOOLS BEGIN STAFF LAYOFFS

Chicago Public Schools began laying off employees from its bureaucratic ranks Friday in an effort to reduce costs while avoiding cuts to the classroom.

A total of 227 employees were to get layoff notices Friday, district CEO Forrest Claypool said in a statement. About 60 of those employees were eligible to reapply for 35 available positions, he said.

In addition, Claypool said 180 vacant positions have been eliminated. On top of that the district said it has cut 61 positions since August.

Through those moves, the district said it has cut 433 jobs and would save about $32 million this fiscal year.

NEWS: WGCI PROGRAM DIRECTOR KRIS KELLEY FOUND DEAD

Radio programming veteran, Kris Kelley was found dead in her Philadelphia apartment late last week. A former Program Director and on-air personality at Clear Channel Chicago, Kelley was released in December, 2013.

Kris Kelley was a 15-year employee of Clear Channel.

Kelley first came to Chicago in March 2007, joining WGCI-FM as Program Director and part-time on-air personality. Early on in her time here, Kelley was the Program Director that fired top-rated morning show host Crazy Howard McGee, replacing him with syndicated programming, which ended up with far lower ratings and revenue. Two years later, her role was reduced to Assistant Program Director at WGCI-FM and she was given an on-air role at WVAZ-FM/V103, taking over the popular midday shift.

At the end of October of last year, Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Chicago announced that Kris Kelley had been given the role of double Program Director, overseeing both WGCI-FM and WKSC-FM/103.5 Kiss FM. Those roles ended this afternoon.

1. Can you introduce yourself to the people?

My name is Bossman Tr3nt and I’m from Conway, AR. I’m 28 years old and I’m new to the rap scene.

2. When did you decide to make a career of music, and what inspired that?

I’ve always been a fan of rap and a few years ago I had actually started writing verses Then a few months ago I started going to the studio with IFOM and I guess you could say that inspired me again. Since then everything has went kind of fast…. Promo tour…shows…. Putting my mixtape together…. I just love everything about writing my own music and hearing it come to life.

3. Whats been the most memorable moment of your grind thus far?

Every experience I have had while doing this promo tour/shows has taught me a lot about the business and has been very memorable. I’m just blessed to be in this position right now. I also have a great manager, Claude, who has helped me put all this into motion.

4. How do you deal with writers-block?

I take a break, light up a blunt, and let my mind GO!

5. Dead Or alive if you could feature with one artist, who & why?

Bryson Tiller. He’s a new artist like myself and I see him being around for a long time. His sound/style is on another level.

6. What are you currently promoting or working on?

My mixtape, Riich Habbitt$, drops Jan 18th. I put a lot of hard work into it and I want the people to feel that when they listen.

7. Where do you see yourself the next 3-5 years?

I see myself and iFOM at the top of music scene because we truly have some talented artists. Yall just stay tuned this is only the beginning.

NEWS: CHANCE THE RAPPER RAISES OVER 100,000 FOR THE HOMELESS

Chance The Rapper and The Empowerment Plan Detroit have raised over $100,000 in their "Warmest Winter" initiative to provide Chicago homeless with winter coats.

The campaign which started on December 16 hit the targeted milestone last Friday, enabling over 1,000 of the water-resistant coats that double as sleeping bags to be produced and distributed to needy people.

Fundraising doesn't close until January 13.

1. Introduce yourself & what you stand for as an artist.

My name is money mannish and I put my records out under the name made2bmannissh which is describing why and what my music is made for. my personal mission is to bring grooves back to the music and express myself freely with no filter and entertain with my sonically sexual sounds.

2. What inspired you to become a serious about your craft?

What inspired me to make music is its the one thing that's consistently been around me all my life .even as a kid I would always have my own melodies in my head I used to hum and sing and as I began writing poems it wasn't long before I started crafting actual songs .I started rapping at 14 on the strength of my partners I grew up with started doing it and I wanted to show that I can hold my own too with the words. rick james is my all time favorite artist. I dug his vocal inflections and how free and open he was with his writing.

3. Rather dead or alive what artist would be a dream collaboration for you?

Rick James or Eazy e. I think that would be a wild and dope ass song to collaborate on.

4. How do you deal with writers block?

I deal with writers block by leaving an idea alone and coming back to it later you got to make sure all the lines connect when crafting a song.

5. Any projects, singles or videos we should be on the lookout for this year?

I'll be releasing my project entitled audio porn on soundcloud,reverbnation and all other music sites. also im getting started working on a new project I plan to release late 2016 early 2017. ill be releasing videos and blog footage as well.

6. Where do you see yourself within this industry 3-5 years from now?

Hopefully ill be producing and breaking acts and ill throw out an occasional record here and there but my main focus as of now is building a fan base and secure a touring situation.

If you were watching the Sunday afternoon game between the Toronto Raptors and the Chicago Bulls, you were treated to an unbelievable second half. If you happened to miss it, you'll want to see the unreal scoring binge by Bulls' wing Jimmy Butler. After scoring just two points and getting a busted lip on a defensive play in the first half, Butler was a bit possessed in the second half.

He put down 21 points in the third quarter alone on his way to 40 points in the second half to lead the Bulls to the victory.

NEWS: CITY LAWYER HIDES EVIDENCE IN POLICE SHOOTING TRIAL

A top city attorney intentionally concealed crucial evidence in a civil trial over a fatal Chicago police shooting and then lied about his reasons for doing so, a federal judge ruled Monday in a scathing opinion.

Chang's ruling reverses a decision last April in which a federal jury found in favor of Officers Raoul Mosqueda and Gildardo Sierra, concluding they were justified in killing Darius Pinex during a January 2011 traffic stop on Chicago's South Side. Both officers testified at the trial that they had pulled Pinex's Oldsmobile over because it matched a description they had heard over their police radios of a car wanted in an earlier shooting.
