LARRO WILSON A CHICAGO MOGUL

Mr. Wilson eventually made enough money from real estate that he got into the business side of hip-hop. In 2011, Kanye West's former manager, John Monopoly, told Mr. Wilson about a young Chicago rapper he was managing, King Louie, who was putting out his songs on free mixtapes. “He's hot in the streets,” Mr. Monopoly recalls saying. “Ask around about him.” Mr. Wilson liked what he heard and decided to launch the Lawless Inc. record label, signing King Louie and bringing Mr. Monopoly in as co-manager. “My goal with Lawless Inc. was to have a label in Chicago that stayed in Chicago and signed artists from Chicago,” says Mr. Wilson, who is owner and CEO. “I started going to find everybody that was hot in Chicago.”
