CHICAGO HIGH SCHOOL PROJECT CLIFF ALEXANDER DOMINATES MONTVERDE

Elite high school basketball players get a handful of moments to showcase their skills in front of a national television audience. Monday in Springfield, Mass. Curie’s Cliff Alexander had his chance and the 6-9 senior stepped up and owned the moment, convincing several national analysts that he is the best college prospect in the nation. Alexander scored 30 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and blocked five shots as he led the Condors to a 73-69 win over Montverde, Fla. the No. 1 team in USA Today’s national rankings.
Montverde, which has seven players signed with DI schools, had won 23 consecutive games heading in and led Curie 59-47 early in the fourth quarter. That’s when the Cliff Alexander show began. “I told the guys we were playing with house money,” said Oliver. “Just go out and try to make a run.”
