"Obama Day" will be a holiday in Illinois once Gov. Bruce Rauner signs a recently passed bill, but that doesn't mean you will get the day off.
That's because it won’t be the legal holiday many had hoped for.
The bill would make Aug. 4. Barack Obama Day in Illinois, but state government and businesses would remain open.

SPORTS: FORMER CHICAGO RUSH OWNER SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR FRAUD
David Staral Jr. was Young and flashy, the Porsche-driving McHenry County native made himself out to be a rich wunderkind financial adviser who would save the Arena Football League's marquee franchise. He talked a big game, promising his ownership would bring a "whole new ballgame" for fans.
But in reality, Staral was an All-Star fraud whose deception played a role in the demise of the indoor football team. A three-time convicted felon, he was still on probation for embezzling from a previous employer at the time the league announced his purchase of the Rush. He'd been dogged by lawsuits and liens for bilking tens of thousands of dollars from investors. And at just 34, Staral had twice filed for bankruptcy — yet managed to convince the league's commissioner he was worth millions.
In sentencing Staral to 3 1/2 years in prison Thursday, U.S. District Judge Ronald Guzman said he'd never seen anyone in his nearly two decades on the bench who'd pulled off such a variety of scams over such a long period of time.

NEWS: LA RAZA GANG MEMBERS ACCUSED OF SHOOTING POLICE
Chicago Police believe members of the notorious Mexican street gang La Raza used an AR-style rifle to carry out a brazen attack on Tuesday that left two plainclothes officers wounded and touched off a citywide manhunt. Gunmen shot up an unmarked police van with a handgun and a .223 caliber rifle, most likely an AR-15, department sources told the Chicago Sun-Times.
Police say both officers were shot with a “high-powered weapon” — one in the hip and arm and the other in the back. The officers were released from Stroger Hospital on Wednesday after receiving treatment for non-life threatening wounds.
“It’s a miracle the officers are still alive,” said police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.
Investigators are currently questioning three “persons of interest”.

Ebony magazine, a publication that has been a staple in the Black community for decades, is cutting their staff by nearly a third and moving its editorial operations to Los Angeles, reports the Chicago Tribune.

NEWS: OBAMA'S TO DONATE 2 MILLION TO CHICAGO SUMMER JOB PROGRAMS
Former President Barack Obama announced that he and his wife, Michelle, are donating $2 million to summer jobs programs in Chicago.

CHICAGO UNSIGNED HYPE INTERVIEW W/ YUNG NERVO
Chicago Est.1837 Recently Caught Up With Up N Coming Artist "Yung Nervo"
1. Can you introduce yourself to the people?
I go by the name Yung Nervo. I started rapping at an early age of 9 during the Cash Money era. I was born in Chicago but later moved to Virginia where I found out I had a knack for writing and producing music. I started producing at 12 years old and that same year I bought a preamp and microphone for home recording, then the rest is history.
2. When did you decide to make a career of music, and what inspired that?
I decided that I wanted to make music a career when I was in high school. I started off doing it for fun, but my family really pushed me and inspired me to go harder with the music.
3. Whats been the most memorable moment of your grind thus far?
My most memorable moment was being able to open up for Bo Deal and collaboring with him on numerous tracks. This meant a lot considering I had just moved back to Chicago with no fanbase or other support.
4. How do you deal with writers-block?
I usually just stop writing because if the lyrics don't flow then its not coming from the heart. I write from experiences so my best method is going out into the world soaking everything in, then leave all my emotions on the song.
5. Dead Or alive if you could feature with one artist, who & why?
I have to be cliche and say Tupac. He was multidimensional and more than just a rapper, but an artist.
6. What are you currently promoting or working on?
Currently I am just working on singles. I have an archive of songs that I've never put out, so later down the line I will pick the best from those and compile a project.
7. Where do you see yourself the next 3-5 years?
I see myself building a foundation and fanbase. I also see myself being the headliner for shows instead of the opening act.
