EDUCATION: CPS TO CLOSE MORE SCHOOLS FOR NEW ENGLEWOOD HS
Several South Side high schools are expected to be on the chopping block in the next few years to make way for a shiny new neighborhood high school in Englewood, the Chicago Sun-Times has learned.
The city’s public school system has set aside about $75 million in money it has borrowed for construction projects for what it’s calling a “Southside High School” at an undisclosed location.
But sources tell the Sun-Times that Englewood will be home to the new school — CPS’ first new neighborhood high school construction in many years — though a specific address hasn’t been finalized.

MUSIC NEWS: THE ARTIST FORMERLY KNOWN AS DONNIE TRUMPET
Farewell, “Donnie Trumpet” We just came off the release of Coloring Book and The Magnificent Coloring World Tour, both huge successes. But all during the tour, something heavy was looming over me — Donald Trump — and the connection people are drawing between his name and mine. What began as a joke, a silly play on words, is not funny anymore. I don’t want to be connected to Trump’s hateful tone or his hurtful message. I don’t want to be misrepresented or misunderstood. Trump’s beliefs are not mine. From this point on, call me Nico. I am proud to be part of a multicultural family, from the great City of Chicago. I am grateful for the diversity of friends and family who have taught me and believed in me and encouraged me. I couldn’t stand to ever hurt them, or you.
Thank you for understanding.
Peace, please, and so much love, Nico.

POLITICS: CUBS CO OWNER TODD RICKETTS NAMED DEPUTY SECRETARY OF COMMERCE
President-elect Donald Trump recently said that he had chosen Todd Ricketts, co-owner of the Chicago Cubs and the son of one of his top donors during the campaign, to serve as deputy secretary of commerce.
Mr. Ricketts, who previously worked for his billionaire family’s financial firms and has more recently managed his family’s political spending, will serve under Wilbur Ross Jr., whom Trump said he had chosen to serve as commerce secretary. Mr. Ross, a billionaire businessman, was also a top fundraiser for Mr. Trump during the campaign.
In a statement, Mr. Trump called Mr. Ricketts an “immensely successful businessman” and praised his family’s management of the Chicago Cubs as “one perfect step after another.” Mr. Ricketts’s father, Joe, is the founder of TD Ameritrade Holding Corp. NEWS: KIM FOXX COOK COUNTY"S TOP NEW PROSECUTOR
Foxx hopes to tackle the city's rising gun-violence and murder rates by taking a page from New York City. In recent years, Foxx said, the New York City state's attorney's office has worked with law enforcement to target the 150 people there who were responsible for the highest number of violent crimes. By sharing information across agencies, studying data and spotting trends, Foxx said, New York city was able to "drive down that small faction."
"The data has borne out that going after those folks drove the violence down," Foxx said. "And the state's attorney's office owned it. They said: We have a proactive responsibility to deal with gun violence, and not simply react to guns we find in the aftermath. I'm very intrigued by that model."
Foxx said that by sharing information with the Chicago Police Department and other city agencies, the state's attorney's office could effectively track and prosecute some of the city's worst offenders.
NEWS: CHICAGO TRIBUNE FILES LAWSUIT AGAINST CPD
The Tribune filed a lawsuit Monday against the Chicago Police Department, complaining that it had not received public records it requested nearly a year ago related to the police shooting of teenager Laquan McDonald.
The lawsuit said the Tribune filed a Freedom of Information Act request Dec. 17, 2015, seeking police employees' emails connected to the death of McDonald, who was shot 16 times in October 2014. Officer Jason Van Dyke has been charged with murder in the case, which inspired widespread protests a year ago when video of the shooting was released.
According to the lawsuit, the Police Department said the initial request by reporter Stacy St. Clair was "unduly burdensome." The Tribune scaled back its request twice and was told March 21 that it would receive 375 emails the next day, according to the suit. But they never arrived, the suit said.

Primarily a role player last school season, Ayo had a breakout spring and summer playing AAU with Mac Irvin Fire on the Nike circuit including a productive stint in the EYBL. This caused Ayo's recruiting stock to soar.
